Ultra-processed Plant Foods: health benefits disappear

A new study reveals that when plant-based foods are ultra-processed, their health benefits disappear.  

Researchers found that highly processed plant foods are often high in added sugars, sodium, and unhealthy fats, which can negate any nutritional value.

This is concerning as plant-based diets have been touted for their potential health benefits, including reducing the risk of chronic diseases.  

However, the study emphasizes the importance of consuming whole, minimally processed plant-based foods to reap their full health benefits.

Ultra-processed plant foods are often found in convenience products such as chips, desserts, and canned goods.  

Instead, opt for fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and legumes to maximize the nutritional value and promote overall health.
